In the sub, the "What?" posed to Maho is questioning her for Maho to help him translate Okabe's English, whereas the dub's "what" is looking to Maho for approval in his boys-will-be-boys nature. Leskinen's "What?" also does add back in a bit of that boyish mischievousness to Leskinen's character. I kind of lost the first part of his dialogue and the moment moves pretty quickly. The what-up-dog line for Okabe works pretty well, although it might better service the scene if Tatum's lines here had a bit more volume on top of Wehkamp's laughing (although some of the volume suppression might have to do with Okabe's mouth flaps being "ooo's" in contrast to his English lines). A bit of that is lost for this episode when his own personality is desaturated. But yeah, the episode is kind of drab whereas Leskinen's subbed version added some vibrancy, humor, and gravitas to the episode that fit while not being over-the-top, Joss Whedonesque out-of-place humor. dull? episode? Of course, some of this may just be my subjective experience in previous viewings of the sub version by now which makes the "Kirisu" entrance less exciting. He added a sense of humor and excitement to what otherwise is a very. in the subbed version Leskinen really stole the show this episode. It's a different interpretation that I think will be alright in the long game, he is a bit of a caricature in the sub, but there was a bit lacking here as far as. On Leskinen, I also had the same impression that /u/Zeik56 and others felt where his dub version was more real and featured less of that mischievous, boyish personality of the sub. It figuratively and tonally helped create a moment for Maho that felt very venomous and humorous, especially with the camera angle giving Maho that leering eye. My highlighted dub line of the episode was Monica's delivery of "I'll upload a virusss," which she touched with a bit of an extenuated "s", which you normally would only hear when someone is dubbing an anthropomorphic snake. Tatum really sold the nostalgic respiteful laugh there along with Monica's delivery of the emotion. I especially liked the Kirisu conversation in the ATF lobby.
